In this tertiary stage, a third, specialized, precision-extruded activated carbon block filter provides final water refining and polishing. Engineered with a nominal 10-micron (µm) pore structure, this stage addresses any remaining, low-level trace organic constituents, ensuring maximum chemical removal efficiency and the complete reduction of color-causing organic matter (de-colorization). By acting as a multi-functional filter that complements the prior GAC adsorption, this CTO (Chlorine, Taste, and Odor) block ensures the absolute maximum level of chemical safety and creates an optimal organoleptic experience. Its robust design prevents the catastrophic failure of subsequent high-purity stages, such as Reverse Osmosis membranes, by eliminating any residual chemical oxidants that could degrade their polymer structure.
